Building Success:
GPK's Early Years
George P. King Contracting Ltd began in April of 1980 as a solo contractor business. The company continued to grow and began serving commercial and marine customers in the Tri-County area. It began as a home-based business with an emphasis on quality service and customer satisfaction.
In early 2004, George was out working on a job when he met Blair. He recognized potential in Blair and that he may be who he was looking for to eventually take over the business and allow him to retire. George asked Blair if he ever thought of owning his own business. “Not at all!” was Blair’s answer. Six months later Blair decided that he may be up for that challenge. Already a licensed Red Seal Electrician at this time adding another trade would be a bonus.
In May of 2004 Blair went to work for George. He would start and complete his refrigeration trade certificate while learning the business and then purchase the company. February 1, 2009, Blair purchased the business from George and also acquired his Red Seal Refrigeration A/C Mechanic in April 2009.
Fast forward to 2026, GPK Refrigeration has grown and moved into it’s new office / warehouse in 2023, located at 268 Hardscratch Road. GPK Refrigeration now serves commercial, marine and residential heat pump customers and is currently into it’s 46th year of servicing customers with continuing emphasis on both quality service and customer satisfaction.

Meet Our Team
Blair Richardson
Owner/Operator
After starting as an apprentice with the company in 2004, Blair has moved his way up to serving as our owner and operator, purchasing the company in 2009. He has been a licensed construction electrician since 2000. Blair started as a certified electrician who wanted to broaden his horizons and was looking for new challenges. He went on to complete his refrigeration apprenticeship training in April of 2009 to become a licensed Refrigeration AC Mechanic. During this apprenticeship period, he competed in the Provincial Refrigeration Skills Competition and brought home the gold. He then went on to compete in the Skills Canada Competition, refrigeration division, and brought home gold again. Blair is a local family-oriented businessman who lives in the Yarmouth area with his wife, Annette, and their 2 children, Alyre and Anik. As owner, Blair continues to maintain and build on our company’s emphasis on quality service and customer satisfaction.
Lisa Outhouse

Lisa is our office manager, overseeing all daily operations, including AR, AP, payroll, and any accounting duties. She first joined our team in 1999, completing on-the-job training to learn her way around. Prior to starting with us, she took a 1-year Business Information Technology course at the NSCC Burridge Campus in 1997, and a 1-year Business Accounting course in 1998.
Evan Kleiner

Starting as an apprentice with us, Evan has been with our team since 2009. He has been a licensed Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic since 2013. Evan was appointed the title of Service Manager in 2020.
Lynn Ryerson

Lynn joined our team in 2020 as an administrative assistant. She is now moved into the role of Assistant Service Manager. She assists with scheduling, appointments and inventory control.
Nancy Legere

Nancy has recently joined GPK Refrigeration in August of 2023 as a receptionist. She brings with her numerous years of experience in an office setting and is a great addition to our team.
Jody Guest

Jody has been a licensed Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic since 1998 and completed a 1-year Refrigeration and AC Mechanic course at the NSCC Colchester Campus in 1995. Jody started as an apprentice and has been employed with us since 1995.
Craig Richardson

A licensed Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic since 2016, Craig is a valuable member of our team. He started as an apprentice with us and has been employed with our company since 2011.
Dysen O'Connell

Dysen has been with us since 2016. Completed a 2-year Refrigeration and AC Mechanic program at the NSCC Ivany Campus in 2017. Dysen has received his Journeyman status in 2023.
Liam d'Entremont

Worked with us as a Junior Apprentice in 2021. Completed a 1-year Refrigeration and AC Mechanic program at the NSCC Lunenburg Campus in 2022 and completed his work placement with us. Rejoined our team in a full-time capacity in 2022. We are very proud to announce Liam received his Journeyman status in 2026.
Curtis Rose

Curtis comes to us with a variety of skills from other industries as a mature student. He joined our team in 2022 as he was looking to expand his skill sets in the refrigeration trade. He is currently working on his Refrigeration and A/C Mechanic apprenticeship
Ethan Spinney

Worked with us as a Junior Apprentice in 2020. Completed a 2-year Refrigeration and AC Mechanic program at the NSCC Akerley Campus in 2022. Rejoined our team in a full time capacity in 2023. We are very pleased to announce Ethan received his journeyman status in 2025.
